- What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are synthetically-made lashes that are individually applied to your natural lashes to enhance your eye area, creating longer and fuller-looking lashes and making mascara a thing of the past!
- How long do they last?
Lash extensions will last the duration of your natural lash’s lifespan. Each individual’s natural lash is going through a different shed cycle, which is why we don’t lose all of our lashes at once. As your natural lash sheds, the extension will shed with it. Shed cycles are different for everyone, however, on average, we lose 1-5 lashes per day. This means that fills are required every 2-4 weeks to maintain a gorgeous full look.
- Will they damage my natural lashes?
If lashes are applied properly and after-care instructions are followed, there will be no damage to your lashes. They will simply shed as normal and continue to grow just like they always have! However, be prepared to feel as if they are shorter than when you first started getting extensions. This is merely caused from growing accustomed to the length of the extensions and not realizing what we started with. If you would like a photo taken when we begin, don’t be shy, just ask!
- Can I wear mascara on them?
It is not recommended to apply mascara on top of your extensions as the removal process can be difficult and pull on the extensions causing them to shed prematurely. It can also 'gunk' up on the lash line making it difficult for your technician to apply extensions properly even after cleansing the area. If you're looking for that extra drama you can try the semi-permanent mascara service we offer that is smudge proof and waterproof lasting up to three weeks!
- Are lash extensions for everyone?
I would love to say yes to this, but unfortunately not everyone is a candidate for lashes. Anyone with sensitive eyes, eye disorders, or infections (alopecia, glaucoma, cataracts, etc.) or allergies to cyanacrolates, are unable to have lashes applied. If you generally have a lot of allergies we can absolutely do a complimentary patch test for you by applying 10-15 extensions the same length as your naturals to see if any irritation occurs within the first 24 hours.
- Can I use my eyelash curler with my extensions?
The great thing about lash extensions is that they are already curled for you and will keep their shape the entire time you have them on, so there is no need for your lash curler anymore! If you have naturally straight lashes, before getting extensions you may want to proceed with a lash lift first so that your natural lashes form to the extensions perfectly (this helps with retention as well).
- How do I maintain my lash extensions between fill?
The after care of lashes is pretty simple, here are a few key things to avoid while wearing extensions as well as a few tips and tricks to maintain your lashes: wash around your lashes daily using an oil free cleanser or makeup remover to keep the lashes free of oils and debris, comb your lashes throughout the day using a mascara brush, do not to pick, pull or rub at your eyes while wearing the extensions to prevent from pre-mature shedding and lastly avoid oil products on or around the eye area! After care products are important, be sure to ask your professional about them!
- What is the difference between Classic lashes and Volume lashes?
Classic lashes are individually applied to your natural lashes as a 1:1 application giving the appearance of an individual mascara look (this is the most common set of lashes) where as Volume lashes use finer extensions applying 2 to 6 extensions to every individual natural lash giving a lush full look for added drama.
- What is Eyebrow Embroidery?
Eyebrow Embroidery is a semi-permanent method using a handheld tool to create hair like strokes implanting pigment into the superficial layer of the skin mimicking your natural brow hair. It is a two part service including the initial application and a mandatory touch up within 8 weeks creating your desired results. Although this technique identifies with the traditional style of permanent tattooed eyebrows, there is quite a difference in the overall result. The finished product of a set of microbladed brows looks fuller, NATURAL, and will last 1-3 years, compared to a more solid stencilled look that tattooed eyebrows generally offer with a more permanent result.
- How long did you say it would last?
Brow Embroidery can last anywhere from 1-3 years depending on your skin type and after care/daily regimens.
- How often are touch up's needed and how much do they cost?
After the initial appointment and touch up session, touch up's are recommended once a year to keep the pigment looking fresh and the strokes clean and crisp. Keep in mind that everyone is different so retention will vary. Additional touch ups are $85 (this is for those who may want a 3rd application to make changes or for those with skin that doesn't hold pigment well). Yearly touch ups are $200 and must be completed within 12-18 months. Touch ups after 2+years are considered a new application and will be a full charge of $499 (this is only if you wait the full 2 years before a touch up).
- Does it hurt?
There can be minimal discomfort throughout the process, however topical anaesthetics are used to numb the area and ease your mind.
- How do I prepare for this service?
Avoid waxing or tweezing your brow area for a few days prior to your appointment and avoid any facial peels or products containing aha's or retinol for 2 weeks prior. Having an idea of what you want your new brows to look like is best so your Technician can create your desired look.
- How do I take care of my new brows?
Gently wash your brows twice a day with clean, fresh water using a cotton pad or q-tip, pat dry and apply a very thing layer of coconut oil also using a q-tip to keep them moist avoiding any flakiness. It is important to keep in mind that your selected colour will be darker and more defined for 10 to 14 days after application until the healing process sheds any flakiness and/or scabbing softening the color and overall appearance of your brows. It can take up to 21 days for the healing process to be complete, however this can be prolonged due to stress, poor diet, and/or your immune system. Remember that in many cases, some unevenness of colour is to be expected and in some cases can be up to 50% less than the initial application. This is the purpose of the re-touch visit allowing us to adjust pigment and complete your brow service. It is not uncommon to require a third visit to acquire the desired look as everyone's skin is different .
- Can you guarantee your work?
Unfortunately, I can't. How the skin will react is different for everyone and many factors are to be taken into consideration. Skin type, age, scarring, diet, stress levels, facial products used, etc. all play a key role in how the pigment will hold, which is why it is important to know that more than one touch up may be required.
- Is there anyone who cannot have eyebrow embroidery done?
Almost anyone can have this service, however here is a few reasons that eyebrow embroidery is not for you:
Sick with cold/flu/fever
Tendency to scarring
Dermetic changes on eyebrow area
Undergoing Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)
Used Accutane in the past year
