The terms “microblading” and “permanent makeup” have been floating around the makeup industry for the past couple of years, but what do they mean and how are they different? We get this question a lot, and we’re here to get you informed!
Firstly, both microblading and permanent makeup can benefit the majority of people – regardless of age or gender. They both solve issues that most of us face: they save time and help improve confidence – which is awesome! But which method should you choose? Let’s find out.
Microblading is known by a variety of names, such as feathering, hair strokes and embroidery (yep, that’s what we offer!), and is a form of semi-permanentmakeup.
This service provides a natural looking solution to those who have sparse brows or no brows at all! This desired look is achieved by using a sharp, hand-held manual blade made up of 7+ micro needles (ah, now we know where the name came from). While “normal” tattooing uses a machine that pushes ink seven layers deep into the skin, microblading pushes the ink only three layers down, giving your new brows a lifespan of 1-3 years. However, extreme sun exposure or lack of care can shorten this duration.
Many people choose microblading over permanent makeup because it allows them to change their brows depending on the current trends! We hope the skinny brow doesn’t come back in style, but if it does, we can help you with that…
Permanent makeup can be used on multiple areas of the face: the eyes, lips, skin and (you guessed it) eyebrows. This technique is (yep, you guessed it again) permanent, therefore is a HUGE factor in the microblading vs. permanent makeup decision-making process.
Permanent makeup is essentially the same as getting a regular tattoo: a permanent makeup tattoo artist will use a tattoo machine to implant ink into the dermis, just shy of how deep a regular tattoo would go. But let’s talk about brows specifically: the desired outcome of this method is the “powdered ombré” brow look – mimicking the look of an what an eyebrow pencil creates.
This may be what you think you are looking for – and that’s great! But before you decide, you should learn about the possible side effects. Complications of this process include scars, infections, blistering, keloids, allergies to pigment and more.
The above may have turned you off, but know that thousands of individuals have braved the chances and have had fantastic results. The key is finding an experienced, credible artist that has the proven ability to achieve beautiful products.
NOW IT’S TIME TO CHOOSE
